Fundraising Events
The Spencer PTO is active throughout the entire school year. Together with the teachers and staff, we provide fun, interesting and educational programs and events. These events and programs are made possible through the funds raised at the Roadrunner Run, Annual Auction and through passive fundraising. We do not engage in direct sales or ask our children to participate in direct sales.

Roadrunner Run
Spencer’s Annual Roadrunner Run! This event is the first fundraiser for the year and represents a significant portion of the funds that make up the PTO operating budget for the year. The Roadrunner Run takes place during the school day. Each student will seek donations from family and friends during the month of October then walk or run with their grade. We will need a lot of volunteers to make this event a success.
Spring Carnival and Annual Auction
The annual auction & carnival is the main fundraiser for the Spencer PTO. Each year, a team will work together to obtain donations for a great Live and Silent Auction. The theme of the Carnival changes each year, but the goal is the same – to raise enough money to fund the programs for the following year.
We will need to have two Team Leaders for this event, ideally one to head up the Auction and one to head up the Carnival, plus a team of people to pull it all together. The team that takes this event on will need to work consistently throughout the school year to solicit various auction donations. We also need many volunteers on the day of the event to run games and activities.
Passive Fundraising
There are a lot of opportunities around our area to earn extra money for our school! Area restaurants have selected days that they will gift back a portion of their sales for a given time frame to the school. Look for some announcements throughout the school year! - Kroger will also donate to schools when you connect our school to your shopper’s card. To create a Kroger account, go to "My Account", then choose Community Rewards on the left side. Set your organization to Spencer Elementary PTO and you are done! From now on, whenever you use your Kroger shopper card, you will be earning money for your school!
- Amazon Smile: If you shop Amazon, why not help your school out at the same time? Go to smile.amazon.com and choose Spencer Elementary PTO as your charitable organization. Every time you shop amazon, just start at smile.amazon.com and begin earning 0.5% on all eligible purchases!
- Box Tops: Box Tops has been one of our largest earning passive fundraisers in the past several years. This year, the format is changing. Box Tops are going digital! What this means is, products that have had paper box tops on them in the past will no longer have that little box to cut out. Just go to https://www.boxtops4education.com/ or download the Box Tops 4 Education app (from the App Store or Google Play). From now on, when you purchase a Box Top eligible product, you will simply open your app and scan your store receipt. Shop online? No problem! Send your digital receipts to: [email protected] using the email address associated with your Box Tops account.
- Shutterfly: Did you know that Lifetouch has partnered with Shutterfly to help make your digital purchases easier to print? The Spencer PTO has also created a Storefront through Shutterfly to generate some additional income when you order photo prints online! Start your Shutterfly order at http://spencerpto.shutterflystorefront.com/ and generate 8-15% back for your school!
- Dine Out Nights: Each year, we partner with local restaurants for family dine out nights, which earn a percentage of sales back for your school. Watch for flyers and emails about upcoming nights!
- Ivory Vines Spencer Spirit Shop: Get Spencer Elementary Spirit Wear and earn money for our school! Ivory Vines has graciously built a Spencer Spirit Shop for us! Order spirit wear for your family, while earning 20% for our school.
- Mabel's Labels: Search for Spencer Elementary School (Brighton) and we earn a percentage back on every purchase.
